Encounter breaks out in Kulgam village, Internet suspensed

Srinagar, February 10: Fierce Gunfight broke out between militants and goverment forces in Keelam area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday morning.

Reports reaching news agency said that a joint team of army’s 9RR, SOG Kulgam and CRPF launched cordon and search operation in Keelam area after having credible input about presence of some militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces intensified searches towards suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon goverment forces triggering an encounter.

SSP Kulgam Harmeet Singh Mehta reconfirmed to agency  that contact has been established with the hiding militants and gunfight is on.

As per the sources three militants are believed to be trapped. Till this report was filed intermittent firing was going on.

Meanwhile internet has been suspended in Kulgam for precautionary measures.(GNS)
