Brief exchange of firing in Shopian village

 

Srinagar, May 03: A brief exchange of firing took place between militants and government forces in Adkhara area of Imam Sahib in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday morning.

Reports reaching said that a joint team of Army’s 34RR and SOG Shopian launched a cordon and search operation in Imam Sahib after having credible inputs about presence of some militants in the area.

A senior police officer told that some gunshots were heard when forces intensified searches towards suspected spot.

The officer further said right now no firing is going on but we have tightened the cordon around the suspected area, the officer said.

As per the sources two to three militants are believed to be trapped inside the area.
