‘Unsafe water being supplied in Mendhar’

Poonch, June 19 : The Public Health Engineering (PHE) department Mendhar claims that clean drinking water is supplied to people but the reality is something different.

The water supplied is totally unsafe, full of impurities and even sometimes giving foul smell. This has been vindicated by the cases where small snakes and poisonous insects were seen in water supply.

The condition of pipes through which the water comes for domestic use is totally unsafe, rusted and leaking.

This reporter found PHE employees repairing a damaged pipe which was having two big holes from where fresh water used to flow. They inserted polythene and small gunny bag strings to stop the leakage.

When asked it is unhygienic and will not last long, they replied that there’s no alternative with them and it cannot be replaced with the new one.

Also there is no proper timing of water supply in different areas of the town.

Will the PHE authorities be kind enough to pay a thorough look to this by personally checking the ground reality? (GNS)
