Srinagar, Jul 16 : In last seven decades, the cricket in the State due to the failure of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) had gone for a six as the association failed to make infrastructure available in the State, said Parvez Rasool an ace cricketer.
“The infrastructure available in the State was not even the five per cent as compared to the other States,” Rasool who was accompanied by other crickets including Umar Kakroo from Baramulla, Nayeem Ahmad, Nisar Ahmad Khan, Muhammad Irfan and others said while addressing a press conference here.
“The last seven decades were full of lull in producing the crickets across the State as no infrastructure was available for them to show their skills in the cricket,” he said, adding that JKCA was hijacked by some of the persons from last seven years.
He added that the developments in JKCA had come to grinding halt as the association was hijacked by some persons. “JKCA has utterly failed to come up with a single turf in last 70 years but in last two years but now in last two years, the has prepared at least five turfs, which is appreciable. I will not only criticize but will also highlight the good developments as well,” he said.
Rasool who is also skipper of JK team told media persons that JKCA, for the first time has opened district tournament in the State in which 1600 teams across the state are participating this year.
He further said that there was great potential among the youth from every nook and corner. “There are many cricketers whose career has been devastated due to lack infra. The youth have talent but there was no infrastructure for them to show their skills,” he said. (KNS)
