Srinagar, Dec 17 : There has been no letup from internet gag in Kashmir since August 5, when the central government abrogated the special status of Jammu and Kashmir (Article 370) and bifurcated the erstwhile State into two Union Territories.

According to the wire service—the internet suspension in the Valley since August 5 has left thousands of students and businessmen to lurch at large.

However, the internet suspension has once again pushed the Valley to go ahead with the manual procedure. Similarly, the result Gazettes being used earlier to check results of students would likely make a comeback in Kashmir in absence of the internet facilities. This situation arises at a time when India is heading towards complete digitization.

In absence of internet services in Kashmir, a rumour about results declaration of Class 10th created chaos among the students. Scores of students on Tuesday afternoon were spotted at Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar’s office here who were looking for internet facility to check their results.

Witnesses told news agency that not only students, but parents too were spotted in DC office here, who had visited there to check results of their beloved via internet. “The result gazettes were although being issued every year, but the internet facilities had provided sigh of relief among the students who used to surf internet anywhere and anytime to check their results,” an official in Board of School Education (BOSE) said.

He added that it is obvious that the result gazettes will be demand again in absence of internet facilities. “Limited result gazettes were being printed due to the availability of internet facilities in Kashmir, but the number of result gazettes that will be printed this year will go up,” he said. However, he said that discussion in this regard has already taken place. (KNO)
