PCCF calls on Lt Governor

Srinagar, Feb 10 : Sh. Suresh Chugh, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, J&K called on the Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu at the Raj Bhavan here today.

Sh. Chugh briefed the Lt Governor about the efforts being made by the Forest Department to increase the green cover in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He discussed with the Lt Governor about various issues related to conservation of biodiversity, soil and water conservation.

Sh. Chugh, who is also the Chairman of J&K Pollution Control Board, discussed with the Lt Governor about various issues related to monitoring of industrial emissions, ambient air quality, water quality, polythene seizures and implementation of directions of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) with regard to J&K in particular.


The Lt Governor emphasized on the high importance for taking all the requisite measures for enhancing and maintaining the forest cover in the Union Territory. He further stressed upon creating mass awareness among the pubic with regard to environmental issues and implementation of pollution laws by expanding public outreach.
