Two militants killed in Shopian Gunfight: IGP

Srinagar, April 17 : Two militants were killed in a gun fight that broke out between government forces and militants in Dairoo Shopian on Friday morning, police said.


A police official news service KNS as saying , after receiving inputs about the presence of 2 to 3 militants in Dairoo hamlet of Shopian, Cordon & Search Operation (CASO) was launched jointly by Special Operation Group of J&K Police, Army and CRPF to neutralize the hiding militants.
He said as the search party established the contact with hiding militants they tried to break the cordon and fired indiscriminately upon forces personnel but fire was befittingly retaliated during which two militants got killed.


Meanwhile Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar told that two militants were killed in Dairoo Shopian on Friday morning whose identity and affiliation is yet to be ascertained.


IGP said that 01 AK 47 riffle has been recovered from encounter site and added searches in the surroundings of encounter site are underway. (KNS)
