Anantnag June 8 (KINS): For the last one decade, Uranhall Bijbehara road in Anantnag district is in bad condition with authorities watching as mute spectators.

The road was macdamized by the Roads and Buildings Department in 2009.

However, the road developed potholes and cracks within weeks and was then repaired by concerned authorities.

Then again the road developed cracks within months.

Locals told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) that authorities have failed to address the issue, which is causing inconvenience to the people.

Bijbehara – Uranhall Road is an important road connecting many villages district headquarters Anantnag.

The bad condition of Uranhall-Bijbehara road is causing immense inconvenience to commuters.

“This road is turning into the deadliest road where many accidents took place. People prefer to walk instead of travelling in a vehicle,” Mudasir Ahamd, a local told KINS.

“The school going children and patients particularly pregnant women are suffering immensely as this road has developed ditches at many spots,” another local Mufeed Gulzar said.

Locals have applied authorities to macdamize the road as they face many problems in their daily life.

AEE R&B Department Anantnag said, “We have already sent an approval to NABARD for this road and we are waiting for their approval.”

“It is our first priority to repair this road but due to lack of funds the road could not be constructed. We have sent approval for the same one year ago and we are waiting for their approval. We will repair about 1 km this year from Uranhall side,” he added.(KINS)
