KULGAM, August 19 ( KINS ) : A local politician was shot by suspected militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday. Identified as Ghulam Hussan Lone, the victim was a former PDP block president who had been working with the J&K Apni Party in recent months.
Initial reports indicate that militants opened fire at Ghulam Hussan Lone outside his residence in Kulgam’s Devsar. Lone was rushed to a local hospital with critical injuries.Doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The area in and around Devsar in Kulgam has been cordoned off by security forces who have launched a search operation to track down the suspected militants.
