Police Seize Illicit Timber Worth Lakhs in Budgam

Srinagar, Jan 14: In a recent operation, the Budgam police successfully seized illicit timber worth lakhs in Atipora Sholipora, Budgam.
Acting on information received from reliable sources, the Police Station Budgam swiftly conducted a raid at the residence of Reyaz Ahmad Itoo, son of Abdul Karim Itoo, who was reported to have illegally stored timber. The raid resulted in the confiscation of 88 Swans measuring 26.93 Cft of illicit timber. Although the accused, Reyaz Ahmad Itoo, managed to escape, efforts are underway to apprehend him.
A case has been registered under FIR No 15/2024 at Police Station Budgam, invoking relevant sections of the law. Further investigations have been initiated to unveil the details of the illicit timber operation.
This proactive stance against timber smuggling underscores the commitment of the police to protect the region’s green wealth. The continuous efforts against anti-social elements aim to reassure the community that law enforcement is dedicated to maintaining a crime-free society. The police remain steadfast in their resolve to take legal actions against those involved in criminal and anti-social activities.
