Srinagar, Jan 17: In a moment filled with pride, the Indian Army and Chinar Corps celebrated the renaming of Jhelum Stadium in Baramulla as the ‘General Bipin Rawat Stadium.’
The Army said that the dignified ceremony, officiated by the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, marked a significant tribute to the esteemed General Bipin Rawat.
Expressing gratitude, the Indian Army saluted the noble gesture extended by the people of Baramulla and the local administration. “This act of renaming stands as a poignant recognition and acknowledgment of General Bipin Rawat, a revered Soldier who served as the former General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Dagger Division and made history as the First Chief of Defence Staff of the Armed Forces”.
The India Army along with local dignitaries, yesterday gathered at the stadium to witness this symbolic occasion, emphasizing the strong bond between the armed forces and the community they serve. The ceremony not only immortalizes the legacy of General Rawat but also signifies the collective respect and admiration for his contributions to the nation’s defense.
