Sources within the BJP have disclosed that the party is steadfast in its determination to emerge victorious in all five Lok Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir, marking a strategic agenda ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Currently holding sitting MPs in the Jammu and Udhampur Lok Sabha seats, the BJP is meticulously crafting its strategy to maintain its stronghold in these pivotal constituencies.
Dr. Jitendra Singh, the incumbent MP from the Udhampur seat and Union Minister, is highly likely to retain his candidacy, given his commendable track record and significant victory margin in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, sources affirmed.
In deliberations regarding the Jammu seat, sources said that the BJP is actively considering various prominent names, including sitting MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, former Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation Rajinder Sharma, and former state chief and Minister Sat Sharma.
These deliberations underscore the party’s commitment to selecting candidates who can effectively represent the interests and aspirations of the constituents.
Sources further said that integral figures within the BJP, notably Prabhari Tarun Chugh, Seh Prabhari Ashish Sood, along with key local stakeholders, are intricately involved in the process of finalizing candidates for all five Lok Sabha seats in the Union Territory.
Their efforts highlight the meticulous planning and comprehensive approach undertaken by the BJP in its electoral strategies.
A senior leader emphasized the party’s unwavering determination to secure victory in the newly formed Rajouri-Poonch-Anantnag seat, which emerged following the delimitation process.
The leader underscored the significance of discussions scheduled with BJP National President JP Nadda and senior Party leader Amit Shah, aimed at formulating robust strategies for the impending elections.
Sources further revealed that the BJP has initiated a thorough screening process for potential candidates.
Amidst ongoing discussions, the party remains steadfast in selecting candidates who possess the capability to uphold and strengthen its electoral dominance in the Union Territory.
As a precursor to the official candidate announcements, the BJP has launched the ‘Gaon Chalo Abhiyan’ campaign, a proactive initiative aimed at engaging with voters across rural and urban areas of the Union Territory. With over 10,000 party workers expected to actively participate in the campaign from February 8 to 10, the BJP demonstrates its earnest commitment to connecting with the electorate and addressing their concerns.
With the BJP poised to announce its candidates for the key Lok Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir, political dynamics in the region are expected to intensify, laying the groundwork for a fierce electoral battle preceding the 2024 Parliamentary elections.(KNS)
