Some elements don’t want operations of e-buses a success: RTO Kashmir

Srinagar Feb 14:The Regional Transport Officer (RTO) of Kashmir Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari claimed that certain elements are attempting to impede the success of e-bus operations and assured that appropriate measures will be taken against them.

Addressing the media during a road safety event at Amar Singh College in Srinagar, RTO Kashmir, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari, quoting SSP Traffic City, disclosed that the city harbors around 4 lakh vehicles, with half of them being two-wheelers. Emphasizing the transitional phase of transport mobility in Srinagar, he stressed the importance of promoting public transport amidst the escalating vehicle numbers.

While acknowledging the consistent road length of 850 KM in Srinagar, RTO Kashmir underscored the necessity to boost public transport. He reported positive feedback from the public following government initiatives like the introduction of e-buses and e-rickshaws, stating that people have found considerable relief in commuting.

Regarding pending driving licenses, RTO Kashmir revealed that out of approximately 1,78,000 licenses pending in J&K, a significant portion of the backlog has been printed. He assured that within the next 20 days, the process would return to normal, with licenses being delivered to homes shortly after printing. (KINS)
