Srinagar, May 03: Srinagar police have made a significant breakthrough by apprehending three individuals involved in a notorious gang responsible for truck robberies in the area. The arrests come after a complaint filed by Hakam Khan, a truck driver from Rajasthan, who reported being ambushed by a group of assailants while driving his truck in Maloora on April 28/29.
The robbers forcefully commandeered Khan’s truck, stealing cash amounting to ₹15,000, two cell phones, a gas cylinder, two watches, and the truck’s music system. Khan was also subjected to physical assault during the incident. Following Khan’s complaint, Police Station Shalteng registered a case (FIR No 28/2024) and launched an investigation.
Through rigorous efforts and technical data analysis, law enforcement officers identified and arrested three suspects: Mohd Amir Keenu, Adnan Ahmed Shah, and Imran Ahmed Shah. Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang operated with a well-organized modus operandi, targeting vehicles traveling along the NHW through Srinagar.
Stolen items, including a gas cylinder and mobile phones, were recovered from the arrested individuals. They are currently in police custody, facing charges related to multiple truck robberies, including one along Lasjan Highway on April 23, 2024, where cash amounting to Rs 8000, ATM cards, driving licenses, and mobile phones were stolen.
While the trio remains in custody, investigations are ongoing to apprehend other individuals involved in the criminal activities. The successful crackdown on this notorious gang marks a significant victory for law enforcement in Srinagar.
