Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo Tours Srinagar to Assess Progress of Smart City Works

Srinagar, May 4: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo embarked on a comprehensive tour of Srinagar city today to personally evaluate the progress of various smart city projects underway. Accompanied by key officials from the Divisional Commissioner’s office, Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL), district administration, and law enforcement, Dulloo inspected several sites across the city.
During his visit to the civil lines area, Dulloo focused on locations undergoing transformation by SSCL, including Boulevard Road and Mughal Garden precincts. He closely examined the status of ongoing works, emphasizing the importance of timely completion given the significance of these projects in bustling urban areas.
Dulloo underscored the need for rigorous monitoring by SSCL senior officials to ensure both quality and adherence to timelines. He inquired about the utility and potential impact of each project on tourism and social aspects of the city.
The tour highlighted prominent projects such as the development of Pedestrian Walkway and Cycle Track along Nishat Sathu, Dal Lakefront development along Northern Foreshore Road, and improvement of Shalimar Canal and Nishat Bagh Precinct. At each site, Dulloo received detailed briefings from project officials regarding progress and anticipated completion dates.
At Nishat Sathu, Dulloo learned about the features of a 2 km long pedestrian walkway and cycling corridor, including amenities such as plazas, seating steps, and a cycle docking station. Similarly, at the Lakefront along Northern Foreshore Road, he was briefed on the construction of a dedicated two-way cycle track and pedestrian walkway, along with other visitor amenities.
Updates on projects like the Shalimar Canal, Nishat Bagh precinct, Jehangir Chowk Junction improvement, and the construction of Balidan Stambh at Pratap Park were also provided. Notably, significant progress has been made on these projects, with completion expected by June.
At Balidan Stambh, Dulloo was briefed on the project’s symbolic significance and progress, including the creation of candle sculptures and a central stambh. The project aims for completion by June, encompassing various aspects of park development and beautification.
Dulloo’s tour reflects the government’s commitment to advancing smart city initiatives and ensuring their timely execution for the benefit of Srinagar residents and visitors alike.
