Srinagar, Aug 06: In a review meeting, Shantmanu, Union Additional Secretary and a senior officer from the erstwhile J&K cadre, praised the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department of Jammu and Kashmir for its strides in improving the public distribution system.
The department’s commendable work in enhancing efficiency and transparency was highlighted, with Shantmanu lauding the efforts to make the system more user-friendly, reliable, and clean.
Under the department’s recent initiatives, J&K has achieved 100% Aadhaar seeding, eliminated duplicate beneficiaries, and introduced automated distribution processes with Aadhaar authentication. The department is also actively implementing the Smart PDS and One Nation-One Ration Card (ONORC) schemes, which have significantly improved service delivery.
Shantmanu assured that the central government would provide support to resolve any pending issues and emphasized the need for close coordination among officers to ensure a seamless public distribution system. The meeting also addressed various ongoing initiatives, including eKYC, portability transactions, and transformations in Fair Price Shops (FPS).
The department’s progress has been notable, with J&K ranking 9th nationwide for ONORC transactions and successfully completing eKYC for 54.46 lakh beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).
