Consensus on some seats with Congress yet to be reached: Omar Abdullah

KINS Desk

Srinagar, August 23: A day after National Conference president Dr. Farooq Abdullah announced a pre-poll alliance with the Congress for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, the party’s vice president, Omar Abdullah, stated on Friday that while the alliance has been finalized for the majority of seats, consensus on a few remains elusive.

Speaking in Kulgam, where he accompanied Sakeen Itoo as she filed her nomination papers, Omar Abdullah said that NC and Congress leaders are still negotiating over certain seats. However, he shared that most of the seats have already been agreed upon.

“Both parties are at an impasse over a few seats, but a meeting is scheduled today to resolve the issue and finalize the alliance,” he said.

Omar also mentioned that the party intends to release its list of candidates before August 27, highlighting that the NC has already taken the lead by filing nomination papers in Kulgam.

“We have prepared a manifesto and hope that the people will entrust us with the responsibility to serve them for the next five years,” he added. (KINS)
