Former PM H.D. Deve Gowda visits Shankaracharya hill, ‘Praises J&K Police & CRPF for their assistance’

Srinagar, Aug 30 (KINS): Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda fulfilled a lifelong dream today by visiting the revered Shankaracharya Temple, also known as the Jyeshteswara Shiva Temple, located atop the Shankaracharya Hill in Kashmir.
During his visit, Gowda expressed deep gratitude to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Jammu and Kashmir Police for their assistance in helping him reach the temple.
“I could not have gone up the Shankaracharya Hill and been in the divine presence of Lord Shiva without the help of CRPF and J&K Police. I am very grateful to them,” said the former Prime Minister, who was visibly moved by the experience.
“It was my lifetime’s desire to visit this temple, and today, I was blessed to pray at the Shankaracharya Temple. The tranquility and sanctity of this place have left an indelible mark on my soul,” the former PM said as per news agency KINS.
Gowda, who is on a personal visit to Kashmir, had also toured the Uri Power Project a day earlier.
His visit comes at a time when Jammu and Kashmir is preparing for the upcoming Assembly elections.
Reflecting on the current situation in the region, Gowda lauded the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their decisive actions that have brought a sense of peace and stability to Jammu and Kashmir. “After Modi and Shah took charge, they have effectively curbed the terrorists and those who were creating problems. The common people are now happy and have finally found peace in Jammu and Kashmir,” he stated.
Gowda’s visit to the Shankaracharya Hill, a place of immense spiritual and historical significance, was marked by tight security arrangements, with personnel from the CRPF and J&K Police ensuring his safe journey to and from the temple.(KINS)
