Chief Secretary Reviews Preparations for Inaugural Kashmir Marathon

Srinagar, Sep 05 (KINS): Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo led a review meeting at the Civil Secretariat on Thursday to assess preparations for the inaugural Kashmir Marathon scheduled for October 20, 2024.
The meeting focused on several key areas including the marathon route, promotional strategies, and registration processes, with a strong emphasis on securing sponsorships. Dulloo stressed the importance of advanced planning to ensure the event’s smooth execution. He urged officials to prioritize sponsorships and develop a comprehensive strategy to attract potential sponsors for the marathon.
During the meeting, Dulloo also inquired about the current registration status. Commissioner Secretary Tourism provided an update, revealing that 1,135 participants have registered so far—469 for the full marathon and 666 for the half marathon. Additionally, 40 international runners from 11 countries, including Kenya, Denmark, Norway, and the UAE, have signed up. Registrations have been received from 27 states and Union Territories across India.
The Tourism Department has actively promoted the marathon through outreach to celebrities and social media influencers, which has significantly increased interest. The Kashmir Marathon promises a unique experience, featuring a route that showcases the region’s stunning natural beauty, including views of Dal Lake, the Zabarwan mountain range, and historic sites such as the Shankaracharya Temple and Pari Mahal.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including the Principal Secretary of Finance, Principal Secretary of Power Development, MD of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, and various commissioners and directors from different departments.(KINS)
