Mega Mushaira Held at GCOE Srinagar to Promote Voting Awareness under SVEEP

Srinagar, Sep 21 (KINS): A grand Mushaira was organized today at the Government College of Education (GCOE), M.A. Road, Srinagar, under the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign. The event was designed to raise awareness about the importance of voting and democracy and was conducted by the Nodal Principal of Kashmir Division Colleges and Returning Officer of the Lal Chowk constituency.
The Chief Guest for the event was Election Observer Chandresh Kumar, with Police Observer R. Suhas serving as the Guest of Honour. Other notable attendees included Akhter Husain Qazi, Nodal Officer for SVEEP; Sapna Kotwal, Media Nodal Officer for the CEO Office J&K; Amir Choudhary, Returning Officer for the Lal Chowk Constituency; and Prof. Lateef Ahmad Shah, Nodal Officer of SVEEP for Lal Chowk AC, along with other officers.
Moderated by Arshid Souleh, the Mushaira saw active participation from students and faculty members representing ten colleges across Srinagar. Ten distinguished poets took the stage, reciting powerful verses centered on the themes of voting and democracy, captivating the audience with their poetic reflections.
In his address, Election Observer Chandresh Kumar emphasized the critical role of voting in a democracy, even sharing a few lines of poetry to highlight its significance. Police Observer R. Suhas reinforced the importance of every vote, reminding attendees that each voice plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of the nation.
Akhter Husain Qazi and Sapna Kotwal also shared their thoughts on the importance of voting, with Qazi reciting a few couplets on the theme. Prof. Lateef Ahmad Shah contributed his insights on the power and responsibility that comes with voting.
The event began with a warm welcome from the Nodal Principal of GCOE, Prof. Seema Naz, who expressed her gratitude to the distinguished guests. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. A.G. Kumar.
This Mushaira uniquely combined art with civic responsibility, successfully engaging students and faculty in a meaningful discourse on democracy through the medium of poetry.(KINS)
