Omar Abdullah reaches Raj Bhawan to stake claim for Govt formation in J&K
Srinagar, Oct 11 (KINS): National Conference’s chief ministerial nominee, Omar Abdullah, is set to meet Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha shortly to stake a claim for government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.
A senior NC leader told the Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) that the Congress party has handed over a letter of support to the NC leadership.
“Omar Abdullah will meet the LG around 8 pm to stake a claim for forming the government in Jammu and Kashmir. He has reached Raj Bhawan and will shortly meet LG,” the leader said.
The NC and Congress contested the recent assembly elections together and are now set to form the government.
A total of 873 candidates participated across 90 constituencies—47 in Kashmir and 43 in the Jammu region. The vote count, which took place on October 8, saw the National Conference (NC) emerge as the leading party with 42 seats, followed by the BJP with 29, Congress with 6, JKPDP with 3, and smaller parties and independents winning the remaining seats.
