Srinagar, October 15 (KINS): The sacred relic of Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA), was displayed at Dastgeer Sahib Shrine in Khanyar, Srinagar, on Tuesday as part of the annual Urs celebrations.
Devotees from across the region gathered in large numbers to witness the holy relic, seeking blessings and offering prayers to mark the auspicious occasion.
The Urs, commemorating the death anniversary of the revered Sufi saint from Baghdad, holds deep significance for Muslims in Kashmir. The atmosphere at the shrine was one of devotion and spiritual fervor, with believers reciting verses from the Quran and participating in special prayers.
The event, overseen by local religious leaders, included the traditional display of the holy relic, believed to be a hair strand of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA), one of the most influential figures in Islamic history, known for his teachings of peace, tolerance, and spiritual enlightenment.
The district administration had made elaborate security and traffic arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the event, which draws thousands of people each year.(KINS)
