IGP Kashmir Inaugurates Police Martyrs T-20 Cricket Tournament, Opens New Facilities for Police Personnel in Anantnag

Srinagar, Nov 23 (KINS): IGP Kashmir, V.K. Birdi, today visited District Anantnag and inaugurated the Police Martyrs T-20 Cricket Tournament at the Shaheed Himayun Muzamil Government Degree College ground. The tournament, organized to honor the fallen heroes of Jammu & Kashmir Police, aims to foster unity, sportsmanship, and youth engagement by providing a platform for local talent. A total of 32 teams from across Anantnag district will compete over the next 10 days.
During his visit, Birdi also inaugurated the new General Mess and Gym Center at District Police Lines (DPL) Anantnag, aimed at enhancing the welfare and morale of police personnel. These facilities will provide quality meals and modern fitness resources, reflecting the administration’s commitment to the well-being of its forces.
The event was attended by DIG South Kashmir Range Javid Iqbal, SSP Anantnag Dr. G. V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, DC Anantnag Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid, Principal Shaheed Himayun Muzamil Government Degree College Shri Prof. Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat, international cricketer Shri Parvez Rasool, families of police martyrs, and other senior officers.
IGP Kashmir also took the opportunity to inspect various police stations in the district to assess operations, boost morale, and identify areas for improvement, reinforcing the J&K Police’s commitment to community service.
The initiatives launched during this visit underscore the continued efforts to honor the sacrifices of police martyrs, engage youth, and strengthen police personnel, ultimately contributing to the safety and prosperity of Anantnag.(KINS)
