‘Yatris, tourist flow adding to the overload of Institute, Trying to overcome all challenges, Rs 40 Cr grant spent on procurement of equipment’

Srinagar, Dec 05 (KINS):Director Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Dr. Ashraf Ganai Thursday admitted the shortcomings in the institute stating that there was a dearth of manpower and the equipment as the Institute is one of the oldest.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the Annual day of SKIMS as per news agency KINS, Dr Ganai admitted that the Institute was dealing with outdated equipment and manpower shortages, including paramedics and support staff.
Dr. Ganai revealed that the institute recently received a Rs 40 crore grant aimed at upgrading its infrastructure. He stated that these funds were utilized to purchase modern medical equipment and revive areas that had become non-functional due to neglect or resource constraints.
Highlighting the steps being taken to address the workforce gap, Dr. Ganai assured that recruitment of paramedical staff is planned within the next three months. He expressed optimism that these measures would enhance the institute’s ability to deliver quality healthcare services.
About the roadmap for improvement, the director said what adds to the problem of overload of the Institute is Yatris and tourists. “We are coping up with every challenge,” he said.(KINS)
