December 26: As part of its public outreach program, the Jammu and Kashmir Police organized ‘Thana Diwas’ events at various police stations across the valley, including in the districts of Srinagar, Kupwara, Budgam, Ganderbal, and PD Handwara. These meetings were chaired by the respective supervisory and jurisdictional police officers, and attended by esteemed local citizens, civil society members, including representatives from Auqaf Committees, Numberdars, Chowkidars, Traders Federation, and Transporters.
The meetings provided a platform for participants to raise issues of public concern. Grievances were heard, categorized by area of action and jurisdiction, with assurances that police-related issues would be addressed in accordance with the law. Matters beyond the police department’s scope were assured to be forwarded to the relevant authorities through the established procedures.
The discussions also focused on soliciting public cooperation in the fight against drug abuse and social crimes. Attendees were encouraged to assist the police in combating the drug menace and identifying anti-national and anti-social elements that threaten the region’s peace and security.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the J&K Police’s initiative to hold such interactive meetings and pledged their full support and cooperation in addressing social issues and eliminating societal evils.(KINS)
