Srinagar, Jan 18 (KINS): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leadership, led by President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Vice President, as well as J&K Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, have extended their heartfelt condolences to Fayaz Kaloo, Editor-in-Chief of Greater Kashmir, following the sudden demise of his nephew, Manzoor Ahmad Baba.
Baba, a resident of Nallabal Nowshehra, Srinagar, passed away on Friday due to a cardiac arrest, leaving his family and community in deep grief.
News agency KINS reported that Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah expressed profound sorrow over the loss and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul, while offering strength and resilience to the grieving family.
In a collective show of solidarity, senior National Conference leaders, including General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, Party Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, and MLAs such as Shameem Firdous, Mubarak Gul, and Salman Ali Sagar, also conveyed their condolences. They joined other leaders like Dr. Bashir Veeri, Sajjad Shaheen, and State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar in extending prayers for peace to the departed soul and strength for the family.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) also expressed deep sorrow over Baba’s passing. PDP President Mehbooba Mufti, along with senior leaders, conveyed their condolences to Fayaz Kaloo and the bereaved family. Mufti prayed for the departed soul to attain Jannat-ul-Firdous and for patience and strength for the family during this difficult time.
Similarly, People’s Democratic Front (PDF) Chairman Hakeem Yaseen and other leaders, including Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr. Moulvi Mohammad Umar Farooq, also mourned the loss. Yaseen acknowledged Baba’s contributions and prayed for solace for the family, noting the profound impact of such a sudden loss.
Political leaders across party lines recognized Fayaz Kaloo’s resilience as a stalwart of journalism and expressed solidarity with him during this painful period. Many also visited the bereaved family to offer personal condolences, underscoring the collective grief felt across the region.
The untimely passing of Manzoor Ahmad Baba has brought together leaders and communities in mourning, united in prayers for peace and strength for the Kaloo and Baba families.(KINS)
