Speaker chairs House Committee meeting to assess issues raised by legislators
JAMMU, Feb 10 (KINS): A meeting of the House Committee was held here today under the Chairmanship of Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, to discuss issues raised by different members of the Legislative Assembly.
Legislators, Sunil Kumar Sharma, (Leader of Opposition); Ghulam Ahmad Mir; Nazir Ahmad Khan (Gurezi); Surjeet Singh Slathia; Ali Mohammad Dar; Javid Hassan Baig; Ch Mohammad Akram and Waheed Ur Rehman Para were present as members of the Committee.
The Committee discussed accommodation and other related issues being faced by the MLAs during their stay in the twin capitals of J&K.
During threadbare discussions, the Legislators gave their suggestions regarding provisioning of suitable accommodation to them at Jammu/Srinagar. They also suggested that a process should be initiated to identify the government quarters for allotment to the MLAs till new arrangements are made so that they won’t face any inconvenience during public meetings and legislative sessions.
The Speaker assured them that all their genuine suggestions including accommodation issues would be taken up with the government for early resolution. He showed his optimism that these issues would find resolution in a time-bound manner.
Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Manoj Kumar Pandit and other senior officers were present in the meeting.(KINS)
Upcoming Yarn Dyeing CFC to boost quality of Kashmir handicrafts
Srinagar, Feb 10 (KINS): In a major fillip to Kashmir’s famed handicrafts, the Handicrafts and Handloom Department, Kashmir, is on the verge of commissioning a modern Common Facility Centre (CFC) for Yarn Dyeing in the premises of Indian Institute of Carpet Technology (IICT) at Nowshera, here.
Constructed at a cost of ₹.2.59 Cr, the CFC shall adhere to all international norms and will dye different types of raw materials used in the handicrafts and handloom sector and go a long way in further improving the quality of craft products and boosting its saleability in niche global markets.
In a statement released here today, a spokesman from the Handicrafts and Handloom Department, stated that CFC will use chemical dyes which shall be 100% Azo-free and have all necessary plant and machinery installed, such as dyeing machines with different capacities, ranging from 5kg to 20 kg, for dyeing of silk, woollen, cotton and viscose yarn. “It will also have Water Softening System, Dryers, Hydro Extractors, Washing Machines and 02 Mini Boilers along with Effluent Treatment Plant,” he added.
The spokesman further stated that the CFC shall also have a Dye House catering to a daily capacity to dye 250 kg of silk, wool and cotton, all in hank form, in different types of dyeing machines. “The CFC shall also provide natural dyeing facility to 07 kg of Pashmina per day through Soft Flow Dyeing Machine,” he added.
The spokesman advised the concerned stakeholders to approach Director IICT for availing the dyeing facility for all types of yarn in hank form against nominal rates.(KINS)
