Food Safety Team Launches Probe into Viral Tetra Milk Pouch Video in Srinagar

Srinagar, Feb 26 (KINS): A team from the Food Safety department, led by Assistant Commissioner Yameen Ul Nabi of Srinagar, has initiated an investigation into a viral video showcasing a tetra milk pouch. The investigation, which is still underway, saw the team—comprising Food Safety officers Khalid Bashir, Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, and Hakeem Adil—inspecting locations in Karanagar and Umarabad HMT and collecting samples of the milk pouch for further analysis.

Assistant Commissioner Yameen Ul Nabi has urged the public to directly share any evidence or videos related to food safety concerns with the department before posting them on social media. This request is aimed at preventing any potential wrongdoers from becoming aware of the issue and possibly concealing violations prior to the department’s intervention.

The probe underscores the importance of rigorous food safety standards and highlights the critical role the community plays in identifying and reporting potential hazards. While tetra milk pouches undergo ultra-high temperature (UHT) processing—which allows for longer storage without refrigeration—ensuring that these products are manufactured and distributed safely remains paramount to protect public health.(KINS)
