Justice Sanjeev Kumar Appointed Acting Chief Justice of J&K and Ladakh High Court
Srinagar, April 09 (KINS): The Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India, has notified the appointment of Justice Sanjeev Kumar as the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The appointment comes into effect from April 10, 2025, following the retirement of Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan on April 9.
The appointment has been made under Article 223 of the Constitution of India, which empowers the President to appoint an acting Chief Justice when the position falls vacant.
“In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Judge of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 10.04.2025, consequent upon the retirement of Shri Justice Tashi Rabstan,” the official notification stated.
Justice Sanjeev Kumar, a senior judge of the High Court, will assume the responsibilities of Acting Chief Justice starting Thursday.(KINS)
