CM Omar Abdullah reaches Flood, Landslide-Hit Areas of Ramban

KINS Desk

Srinagar, April 21 (KINS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday evening reached the flood and landslide-affected areas of Ramban district to assess the damage caused by recent flash floods and landslides.

Several parts of Ramban have been severely impacted following incessant rains that triggered flash floods and landslides, leading to extensive destruction. The natural calamity has claimed at least three lives, while numerous houses, shops, and vehicles have been either damaged or washed away.

According to official sources, the Chief Minister was keen to visit the affected areas personally to evaluate the ground situation.

“Despite the poor condition of the highway, the Chief Minister proceeded with the visit and reached the affected areas,” sources told KINS.

The district administration has launched relief and rescue operations, although many areas remain inaccessible due to debris and damaged roads. Authorities are working round the clock to restore connectivity and provide immediate assistance to the affected families.

Meanwhile, political leaders and civil society organizations have urged the government to announce immediate compensation for the victims and prioritize the repair of damaged infrastructure in the region.

Further updates on the Chief Minister’s visit and ongoing relief measures are awaited. (KINS)
