Srinagar, Aug 18 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference senior leader and Member of Parliament, Mian Altaf Ahmad, on Monday visited Kathua district to meet the families affected by the recent cloudburst tragedy that claimed seven lives and caused widespread damage to property, including several residential houses.
Expressing deep grief over the loss of lives and destruction, Mian Altaf, as per news gathering agency KINS, extended solidarity with the bereaved families and those who lost their homes and belongings in the calamity.
He assured the affected people that their plight would be taken up at the highest level.
He urged the Government and the Lieutenant Governor’s administration to announce a comprehensive relief and rehabilitation package, ensuring adequate compensation to the families of the deceased as well as those who suffered property losses.
“Natural calamities like these leave people devastated both emotionally and financially. It is the responsibility of the government to stand by them at this critical juncture by providing immediate relief and long-term rehabilitation measures,” he said.
He called upon the administration to conduct a detailed assessment of the damages to ensure that no affected family is left out of relief measures.(KINS)
