Daughter of Kashmiri journalist dies in Hyderabad road accident

Srinagar, Sep 23 (KINS): The journalist fraternity in Kashmir has been left in shock after the daughter of senior journalist Khursheed Wani died in a tragic road accident in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Family sources said the accident took place in the Hayat Nagar area when an unknown vehicle hit the young student while she was on her way to college. The driver fled the spot immediately after the incident. Passersby rushed her to a nearby hospital, but despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries.

“She was heading to college when the accident occurred. The driver did not stop and fled immediately. She could not survive the injuries she sustained,” a relative said.

Police in Hyderabad have registered a case and launched an investigation. Officials said CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to trace the vehicle and identify the driver involved in the fatal accident.

According to family members, her mortal remains will be flown to Srinagar and later taken to her ancestral village in Diver, Tral, in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, where she will be laid to rest.

Khursheed Wani, originally from Diver village of Tral, has been living in Hyderabad for the past six years, where he works as an editor with ETV Bharat.
