LG Manoj Sinha visits Kupwara, meets terror victim families; says ‘no family affected by terrorism will be left behind in J&K’s journey of peace and progress’

Kupwara, Oct 15 (KINS): Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, on Wednesday visited Dardpora in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, where he met local residents and families affected by terrorism.

During the visit, as per news gathering agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) the LG directed Deputy Commissioner Kupwara and SSP to expedite pending cases related to terror victim families under the special rehabilitation drive launched for their welfare.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to justice, rehabilitation, and livelihood support for victims of terror violence, Sinha said, “We have heard the voices of the people. It is our duty to stand with the families who have suffered due to terrorism and ensure that they are not left behind in our journey of peace and progress.”

Recalling his earlier interactions with victims’ families in 2024, the LG said many had lost their breadwinners to terrorism, leaving them in deep distress. “Some families received government jobs, but many others continued to struggle. After reviewing their situation with officials, we collectively decided that every district must take responsibility for rehabilitating such families,” he added.

Sinha informed that 247 people have already been provided government jobs under the special rehabilitation drive for terror victims. “More applications are being processed through an online portal. Those who genuinely suffered due to terrorism will be supported, while those with terror links will not be entertained,” he clarified.

The Lieutenant Governor also revealed that the administration is working with voluntary organizations to rebuild homes destroyed in cross-border shelling in Kupwara. “A Kerala-based organization has stepped forward to help reconstruct damaged houses in Kupwara,” he noted.

Concluding his address, the Lieutenant Governor reaffirmed, “The government stands firmly with every innocent victim of terrorism. Together, we will build a peaceful, prosperous, and self-reliant Jammu and Kashmir.” (KINS)
