Pass at least 2 PDP’s bills in assembly only then we will consider to support you in RS polls: Mehbooba to NC

KINS Correspondent

Srinagar, Oct 16 (KINS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday said her party would consider supporting the National Conference (NC) in the Rajya Sabha elections only if the government clears at least two key bills proposed by the PDP in the upcoming assembly session.

Talking to reporters, Mehbooba said that NC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah had personally called her seeking PDP’s support in the Rajya Sabha polls. “Farooq Sahib called me and asked for support. I told him that if they clear our bills, then we will think about supporting them,” Mehbooba said, according to news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS).

She said her party has submitted two important bills in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly — one aimed at stopping the “bulldozer politics” and another seeking regularisation of daily wagers and casual labourers. “They should at least pass these two bills of the PDP only then we will consider supporting the NC in the Rajya Sabha elections,” she added.

The PDP chief said her party’s demands are based on the “public interest” rather than political calculations.

Mehbooba’s remarks come at a time when political maneuvering has intensified ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir. The NC has already appealed to other parties including PDP, Congress, People’s Conference, and independents to support its candidates to keep the BJP out. (KINS)
