Srinagar, Oct 18 (KINS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday organised a massive public rally in Nagrota, drawing a huge turnout of enthusiastic party workers and supporters. The event was held soon after BJP candidate Devyani Rana filed her nomination papers for the upcoming Nagrota Assembly by-election.
The rally was addressed by several senior BJP leaders, including J&K BJP President Sat Sharma, Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, General Secretaries Sanjita Dogra and Gopal Mahajan, Assembly Election Incharge & MLA Sham Lal Sharma, and Co-Incharge & DDC Chairperson Bharat Bhushan. Prominent leaders such as District Prabhari Ayodhya Gupta, MLAs Satish Sharma, Yudhvir Sethi, Pawan Gupta, Ch. Vikram Randhawa, Kuldeep Dubey, Mohan Lal Bhagat, Surinder Bhagat, Arvind Gupta, and Baldev Raj Sharma also shared the stage.
Addressing the gathering, Sat Sharma reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to the comprehensive development and progress of the Nagrota constituency, ensuring socio-economic upliftment for every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Territory has witnessed a new era of transparency, empowerment, and accelerated development.
Paying heartfelt tributes to late Devender Singh Rana, Sat Sharma described him as “a true son of the soil” who dedicated his life to public service and earned the unwavering affection of Nagrota’s people. “Though he is no longer with us, his ideals and dreams continue through his daughter, Devyani Rana, who has inherited his spirit of service,” he added.
Sunil Sharma praised Devyani Rana’s determination to carry forward her father’s mission, saying, “The people of Nagrota have witnessed what selfless leadership and compassion meant under Devender Singh Rana. Devyani embodies the same sincerity, dedication, and vision, and the BJP stands united behind her.”
Sham Lal Sharma assured the gathering that the BJP government remains committed to serving every section of society. “Development, empowerment, and dignity for all are our guiding principles. Under Devyani Rana’s leadership, Nagrota will get the attention and progress it truly deserves,” he said.
Bharat Bhushan highlighted the historic reforms brought in Jammu and Kashmir under the Modi government and urged people to strengthen BJP’s hands for a stronger Nagrota and a stronger Jammu and Kashmir.
In an emotional address, Devyani Rana expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the party leadership and the people of Nagrota for their faith and support. “My father dreamed of a prosperous, progressive, and inclusive Nagrota,” she said. “I promise to fulfill his unfinished work and serve the people with full dedication. I will leave no stone unturned to justify the trust you have placed in me.”
