House rejects PDP MLA Waheed Parra’s bill on land ownership rights
KINS Correspondent
Srinagar, Oct 28 (KINS): The Legislative Assembly on Tuesday rejected a bill moved by PDP MLA Waheed Parra seeking to grant land ownership rights to occupants.

Parra had introduced the bill during the ongoing session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. However, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah opposed the proposal, stating that individuals living on land illegally cannot be granted ownership rights. He said government was making all efforts to give land to landless people.

He according to news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) urged Parra to withdraw the bill, but the legislator refused to comply. Following the refusal, Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather rejected the bill as majority of members were not in favour of the bill.  (KINS)
