Light Snow, rain continue across Kashmir;heavy Snowfall likely in some higher reaches

Srinagar, Dec 21 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir witnessed light to moderate snowfall over higher reaches and light rain across the plains on Saturday, as a fresh spell of wet weather affected the region, the Meteorological Centre Srinagar said.
According to the MeT Department, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy on December 21, with the possibility of light to moderate snowfall over higher reaches and light to moderate rain at many places in the plains till evening or night.
On December 22, generally cloudy conditions are likely to persist, accompanied by light rain or snowfall at scattered to fairly widespread places across J&K. From December 23 to 29, the weather is forecast to remain partly to generally cloudy.
Another weak western disturbance is expected to affect the region on December 30 and 31, bringing generally cloudy conditions with the possibility of light rain in the plains and light snowfall over higher reaches at scattered places. Similar weather is forecast for January 1, while January 2 and 3 are expected to remain partly to generally cloudy.
Advisory:
The MeT Department has cautioned that a few higher reaches of Kupwara, Bandipora and Ganderbal districts may receive moderate to heavy snowfall, particularly on December 21. Travellers and transporters have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and strictly follow traffic and administrative advisories.(KINS)
