Srinagar, Jan 22 (KINS): Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma on Thursday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and discussed the upcoming Assembly session along with political, security and development issues of Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, Sunil Sharma briefed the Home Minister about the current political situation in J&K and shared the hopes and expectations of the people from the forthcoming Assembly session. He stressed the need for healthy discussions to strengthen democracy and improve governance in the Union Territory.
Security issues were also discussed, with focus on maintaining peace, tackling terrorism and ensuring the safety of civilians and security forces. Sunil Sharma appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Home Affairs and security agencies for improving the security situation and restoring normalcy in J&K.
The meeting also covered development-related matters such as infrastructure, employment, youth empowerment, tourism, healthcare, education and timely implementation of central welfare schemes. Sunil Sharma urged speedy execution of development projects, especially in remote and border areas.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured that the issues raised would be looked into seriously. He reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to peace, development and inclusive growth in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting highlighted the BJP leadership’s resolve to work closely with the Central Government for a peaceful, secure and developed Jammu and Kashmir.(KINS)
