Dialogue key to peace in J&K, Centre must win hearts: Mehbooba Mufti

Srinagar, Apr 16 (KINS): PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday said lasting peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir can only be achieved if the Centre focuses on winning people’s trust and engages in dialogue.

Speaking to reporters in Baramulla, she said relying on force alone cannot bring real peace and stressed that there is no alternative to talks.

Mufti expressed hope that the Central government would soon realise the importance of dialogue over measures like heavy security presence and strict laws.

She also highlighted the PDP’s outreach programme ‘Kath Bath’, saying it aims to connect with people, understand their issues, and address the sense of helplessness and distress, especially after the developments of 2019. (KINS)
