Srinagar, May 07 (KINS): In a major step towards promoting community healthcare and preventive medical awareness, the Chinar Corps successfully organised a month-long dental healthcare outreach programme, ‘Dagger Dentathon’, across North Kashmir under Operation Sadhbhavna from April 7 to May 7, 2026.
The initiative was aimed at spreading oral health awareness, providing preventive care and ensuring access to essential dental services in remote and underserved areas of the region.
As part of the campaign, several dental camps were organised in Baramulla, Naugam, Boniyar, Uri and Gulmarg, benefiting people from different sections of society. Dental surgeons and paradental staff actively participated in the drive and provided services including dental consultations, preventive care and basic treatment procedures.
In addition to medical services, awareness programmes and health lectures were conducted at schools, community centres and public places to educate people about oral hygiene and preventive healthcare practices. Special focus was laid on children and elderly people, who are considered more vulnerable to dental problems.
During the month-long drive, more than 2,500 civilians, including nearly 500 children, benefited from the initiative.
The programme concluded on May 7 with a poster-making competition for school children on the theme “Happy Teeth, Healthy Life.”
The successful conduct of ‘Dagger Dentathon’ reflects the continued commitment of the Chinar Corps towards community welfare, preventive healthcare and public outreach in North Kashmir.(KINS)
