Srinagar, May 25 (KINS): Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat on Monday said that a massive joint rescue operation was launched after a technical snag developed in the Gulmarg Gondola earlier in the afternoon.
Speaking to reporters in Gulmarg, the DGP as per news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) said that the police received information about the incident around 1:20 pm, following which the SHO Gulmarg, along with the entire police station staff and Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel, immediately rushed to the spot.
He said 15 teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were rapidly mobilised, while eight Mountain Rescue Teams of J&K Police and specialised Snow Leopard teams also joined the operation.
DGP Prabhat stated that the large-scale rescue mission involved a significant deployment of J&K Police personnel and was carried out in coordination with SDRF, the Indian Army’s 9 Rajputana Rifles, and teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
“Working together, all agencies successfully evacuated the stranded tourists,” the DGP said, praising the coordinated efforts and swift response of the rescue teams despite challenging conditions.(KINS)
