J&K Govt waives school fees for AAY students of classes IX–XII in Government schools

Jammu, July 08 (KINS): The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved a complete waiver of school fees for students from Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) families studying in Classes IX to XII in government schools across the Union Territory.

An order issued by the School Education Department said the decision takes immediate effect and is aimed at easing the financial burden on economically weaker families while encouraging continued education.

The fee exemption will be available to students belonging to AAY households who possess a valid Antyodaya Anna Yojana ration card or any other document prescribed by the government to establish eligibility.

The waiver covers all fees charged by government schools. However, fees payable to external statutory authorities, examination boards or other outside agencies will continue to be applicable unless specifically exempted by the competent authority. (KINS)
