Srinagar, July 20 (KINS) :Continuing its intensified campaign against narcotics under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Srinagar Police on Monday attached 10 immovable properties worth approximately ₹8 crore belonging to alleged drug peddlers under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to a police spokesperson, the action was taken by Police Station Nowhatta under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act after investigations identified the properties as being allegedly acquired through proceeds generated from illicit drug trafficking.
The attached properties include residential houses located in Hawal, Nowhatta, Rainawari and Qamarwari, and are linked to various NDPS cases registered over the past several years.
The attached properties include:
A double-storeyed house at Zahidpora Sheikh Colony, Hawal, valued at around ₹85 lakh, linked to Sajad Ahmad Sheikh.
A double-storeyed house at Tujgari Mohalla, Nowhatta, worth ₹55 lakh, linked to Mst. Hajra Begum.
A four-storeyed house at Tujgari Mohalla, valued at ₹75 lakh, linked to Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh alias Gulloo.
A single-storeyed house at Tujgari Mohalla, worth ₹55 lakh, linked to Fahmeeda alias Famba.
A double-storeyed house at Tujgari Mohalla, valued at ₹75 lakh, linked to Abdul Ahad Sheikh.
A three-storeyed house at Sheikh Colony, Nowhatta, worth ₹90 lakh, linked to Gh. Nabi Sheikh.
A double-storeyed house at Androoni Kathidarwaza, valued at ₹90 lakh, linked to Altaf Ahmad Sheikh.
A double-storeyed house at Kathidarwaza, Rainawari, worth ₹85 lakh, linked to Hyder Ali Wani.
A three-storeyed house at Kathidarwaza, Rainawari, valued at ₹95 lakh, linked to Shakeel Ahmad Sheikh.
A double-storeyed house at Barthana, Qamarwari, worth ₹95 lakh, linked to Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh.
Police said the cumulative value of the attached properties is estimated at around ₹8 crore. These assets were identified during the course of investigation as allegedly being acquired through proceeds of narcotics trafficking.
The spokesperson said the attachment is aimed at dismantling the financial infrastructure of drug trafficking networks and depriving offenders of the benefits derived from the illegal drug trade.
Reaffirming its commitment to the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, J&K Police said it will continue to take stringent legal action against those involved in narcotics trafficking and urged the public to support the anti-drug campaign by sharing information with the nearest police station or through the designated helpline, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.(KINS)
