Srinagar, Aug 1 (KINS): An independent weather forecaster has predicted intermittent spells of rain and thundershowers across Jammu and Kashmir over the next seven days, while cautioning that atmospheric conditions remain favourable for localized intense rainfall, cloudbursts, and flash floods.
According to the latest forecast shared by Kashmir Weather, scattered thundershowers are expected across parts of the Union Territory on Friday. Some areas may receive rain during the morning hours, while others could witness showers later in the afternoon and evening.
On August 2, a few places are likely to experience thundershowers during the early morning, followed by another spell in the late afternoon and evening. The forecast, however, indicates that no prolonged or continuous rainfall is expected anywhere.
On August 3, most parts of Jammu and Kashmir are likely to receive a spell of rain or thundershowers, mainly during the evening hours, with the duration of rainfall in most places expected to remain below two hours.
Rain or thundershowers are also possible in some parts of the region on August 4. From August 5 to 7, the possibility of brief spells of rain and thundershowers will continue, although the weather is expected to remain mostly fine for much of the day. Wherever showers occur, they are likely to be short-lived, generally lasting less than three hours.
The independent forecaster said atmospheric conditions remain highly favourable for intense short-duration rainfall, keeping the risk of cloudbursts, localized heavy downpours, and flash floods very high.
The forecast also warned of possible thundershowers along the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway, where shooting stones, mudslides, and landslides cannot be ruled out. Travellers have been advised to remain cautious and follow weather and traffic advisories before undertaking journeys.(KINS)
