Srinagar Police arrest habitual fraudster for duping businessmen and shopkeepers

Srinagar, Aug 09 (KINS): Srinagar Police has arrested a man accused of cheating several businessmen and shopkeepers through fraud and impersonation.
The accused has been identified as Ubaid Maqbool Khawaja, son of Maqbool Ahmad Khawaja, a resident of Gomal Chek, Tangdar, and currently living in Habib Colony, Alochi Bagh.
Police said he was arrested in connection with FIR No. 45/2026, registered at Police Station Maharaj Gunj under Sections 318(4) and 319 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to police, several complaints have been received against the accused from different parts of Kashmir. Multiple FIRs are also registered against him at different police stations, including cases at Kothibagh and Pulwama.
Police said the accused had earlier also been detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) due to his alleged continued involvement in criminal activities.
Further investigation is underway to identify his wider network and check his involvement in other fraud cases.(KINS)
