2nd UT-level JCC meeting on narcotics control for J&K, Ladakh held in Srinagar

Srinagar, Sep 08 (KINS): The 2nd UT-Level Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) Meeting on Narcotics Control for the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh was held at the Police Control Room (PCR), Srinagar, under the joint chairmanship of the DDG (NWR), Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), and IG Crime/ANTF, J&K Police.

Senior officers from various enforcement and stakeholder agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Border Security Force (BSF), State Drug Controller, Intelligence Bureau (IB), Customs, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Income Tax Department and National Investigation Agency (NIA), besides District SSPs of Jammu, Srinagar and Ganderbal, participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, participating agencies shared their experiences and enforcement initiatives and held detailed discussions on emerging trends in drug trafficking, inter-State linkages, illicit cultivation, information sharing, joint investigations, financial investigations and effective prosecution.

The meeting also discussed concerted efforts for the implementation of the ‘Vision Document on Drug Control (2026–2029)’, launched by Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah during the 10th apex-level meeting of the Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD) held in New Delhi on June 26, 2026.

The participants highlighted the importance of adopting a network-centric approach to effectively combat the drug menace. Emphasis was also laid on strengthening inter-agency coordination, conducting joint interrogations, undertaking effective financial investigations and making greater use of available information-sharing mechanisms.

The meeting concluded with a call for sustained cooperation among all stakeholder agencies and the adoption of a Whole-of-Government approach to detect, disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking networks operating in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.(KINS)
