Awantipora, Oct 21 (KINS): Police Commemoration Day was observed with solemnity and reverence at District Police Lines (DPL) Awantipora on Wednesday to honour police personnel from across the country who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
SSP Awantipora, Sh. Irshad H. Rather (JKPS), attended the ceremony along with Additional SP Awantipora, SDPOs, police and CRPF officers, civil administration officials, members of civil society, retired police officers and families of police martyrs.
The ceremony began with a two-minute silence in memory of the fallen personnel. A Jammu and Kashmir Police contingent also performed Shok Shastra to the beats of the Pipe Band.
SSP Awantipora paid rich tributes to the martyrs and read out the names of police personnel who had sacrificed their lives in the service of the nation. Officers, personnel, guests and family members of the martyrs subsequently laid wreaths and showered flower petals at the Martyrs’ Memorial at DPL Awantipora.
