Bandipora, Oct 24 (KINS): The external development of the Ayushman building at Quil in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district has allegedly remained incomplete, with residents claiming that an uneven surface, exposed sides and an unfinished courtyard containing stones and heaps of soil are causing concerns over accessibility.
Residents have claimed that the approach and surrounding area require proper levelling to make the healthcare facility more accessible and convenient for patients, particularly elderly people and persons with mobility difficulties.
Abdullah Mir, a local resident, claimed that the condition of the premises raises concerns about patient convenience and called upon the concerned authorities to examine the remaining work.
Sheikh Waseem, another resident also claimed that the approach and courtyard need proper development, urging the authorities to assess the requirements and arrange the necessary funds.
When contacted for his response, Executive Engineer Roads and Buildings (R&B) Saleem Ahmad said the department had completed the work within the scope approved under the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
According to Saleem Ahmad, the department had executed the work for which provision was made in the approved DPR. He claimed that additional work could have been undertaken if the required funds had been released by the concerned department.
He further stated that work beyond the sanctioned scope involves an online process and that contractors may face difficulties in executing additional work when funds are unavailable.
Residents, however, have claimed that the remaining external development needs attention and urged the concerned authorities to assess the site and examine whether additional funding is required.
The issue has brought attention to the need for proper external access and surrounding facilities at healthcare buildings. Residents have called for the matter to be examined by the concerned authorities and for necessary steps to be taken, subject to the approved project scope and availability of funds. (KINS)
