Notorious Drug Peddler Arrested in Anantnag; Significant Quantity of Contraband Seized

June 01: In its ongoing efforts to combat the drug menace, Anantnag police have apprehended a notorious drug peddler and seized a substantial amount of contraband substance.
The arrest occurred at a checkpoint set up at Kathsoo crossing by officers from Police Station Srigufwara. The suspect, identified as Imran Ahmad Najar, son of Mohd Ibrahim Najar, a resident of Kathsoo Srigufwara, was found in possession of 6.1 kilograms of poppy straw. Najar has been detained and remains in police custody.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 43/2024 at Police Station Srigufwara, and an investigation is underway.
The police urge community members to report any information regarding drug peddling in their areas. Individuals involved in such activities will face strict legal action. The police’s consistent efforts aim to assure the community of their commitment to eradicating the drug threat from society.
