Srinagar, Aug 19: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo convened a meeting today to assess the Tourism Department’s readiness for the upcoming Kashmir Marathon 2024, scheduled for October 20th. The meeting was attended by the Commissioner Secretary of Tourism, Secretary of Youth Services & Sports, as well as the Directors of Tourism for Kashmir and Jammu, among other officials.
Chief Secretary Dulloo emphasized the need to boost registrations through extensive promotional activities across traditional and social media platforms. He urged officials to engage with national and international athlete groups and leverage influencers to raise awareness about this inaugural event, set against Kashmir’s stunning backdrop.
Commissioner Secretary of Tourism, Yasha Mudgal, updated the meeting on the department’s preparations, noting that since the marathon’s launch on July 24th, 258 runners have registered—105 for the Full Marathon and 153 for the Half Marathon.
The event aims to highlight Kashmir’s natural beauty while attracting running enthusiasts, adventurers, health-conscious individuals, and the broader travel and tourism industry. A dedicated website, kashmirmarathon.jk.gov.in, has been launched, offering registration details and showcasing the event’s logo, tagline, medals, and jerseys.
This first-of-its-kind marathon will feature attractive prizes for participants across various age groups—18-35, 36-50, and over 50—competing in both the Full and Half Marathon categories.
